There’s nothing like summer at YMCA Summer Adventure Day Camp. We’re here to make your kids feel welcome. Try new things. Make new friends. To help your kids grow. To foster curiosity and expand their comfort zones. To show kids all they can accomplish when they believe in themselves.
Week long. Summer long. Life long. Summer Adventure Day Camp is about friendships, accomplishments and belonging. And about making this the Best Summer Ever!
Day Camp counselors are selected carefully, in consideration of their experience, maturity, patience, enthusiasm and interest in children. To provide the safest possible environment, all counselors have been trained in CPR, first aid, abuse prevention and effective guidance and discipline. They also are certified in basic water rescue. All staff members have passed a state criminal background check.
Each lead counselor is equipped with a call phone and first aid kit in case of emergency. Parents will be given their child’s counselor’s contact information.
We believe that no child should go hungry during the summer months when school is not in session. Therefore, we provide breakfast, lunch and dinner (from 3pm-4pm daily at the South branch) at no cost through the Summer Food Service Program. Because we are a registered feeding site, our dinners from 3pm-4pm are open to members of the community ages 0-18 years old completely free.
In a partnership with our local school district, the Y provides access to healthy, nutritious meals that include fresh fruits and low-fat dairy products. Meals are planned based on USDA food pyramid guidelines.
Free meals will be available to children and will be provided without regard to race, color, national origin, gender, religion, age disability, political beliefs, sexual orientation or marital family status. To file a complaint of discrimination, write USDA Director, Office of Civil Rights, Room 326-W. Whitten Building, 14th and Independence Avenue, SW Washington, D.C. 20250-9410.
Campers in all age groups will build stamina, muscles and knowledge for a healthier future with the Kids Run the Nation Program® as well as our Y Fit Kid Army class every Tuesday and Thursday at 4:15 pm.
Kids Run the Nation is a Road Runners Club of America (RRCA) program designed to help kids meet the USDA’s physical activity goals and combat childhood obesity by placing an emphasis on the development of healthy lifestyles. Participants learn about everything from running form to nutrition and become healthier through weekly runs with an RRCA-certified running coach.
Kids Run the Nation at the Joplin Family YMCA is supported by Active Lifestyle Events, Inc.

We believe that we have something special at the Y and that everyone should have access to it. Thanks to the generosity of our donors and corporate sponsors, we are able to provide financial aid to those who might not otherwise be able to be a part of our Y family.
If you have questions about financial aid for membership or programs, please contact us at 417 781 9622.
