Arts and Humanities

Classes offered by the Joplin FamilyY in collaboration with Joplin’s Spiva Center for the Arts. All Arts and Humanities classes will be held in eight-week sessions unless otherwise indicated.
Purpose
Arts and humanities introduce critical, if not essential, media through which we celebrate families, friends and communities. Activities in these areas also aid in the development of imagination, critical thinking, comprehension, perception, communication, observation and social skills. Participants gain a better understanding of various cultures and backgrounds, which is vital to honoring the diversity of our communities.
This exposure promotes self-expression as a way to address frustrations and low self-esteem. All Arts and Humanities classes will be held in eight-week sessions unless otherwise indicated. Classes are designed to cater to a variety of groups, including youth, adults, older adults, teens and parents/tots.
