Heritage Youth Development Center

The YMCA Heritage Youth Development Center focuses on providing a nurturing, stimulating and positive first-school experience. Emphasis is placed on self-help skills and socialization. Many sensory activities are incorporated into the curriculum.

The Preschool program also provides a fun way to enhance language communication skills as well as pre-reading and motor skills. The childcare staff provides hands-on projects and opportunities to explore the arts and crafts, cooperative games, technology, dramatic play and daily literacy activites.

Full Day Child Care

The Heritage Youth Development Center cares and educates your children in a safe, loving environment that provides learning, fun and healthy habits while emphasizing the YMCA core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.

Age Range

  • 2 - 5 years

Curriculum

The YMCA's curriculum, for age two though pre-kindergarten, prepares children for kindergarten and assists them in developing social skills and a natural curiosity about our world.

Our Teachers will communicate regularly with you about activities in which your child participates and about his/her development progress. Your child also will have a variety of learning experiences to share with you including:

  • Language and reading activities that teach letter recognition, sounds and writing
  • Math activities that engage children in counting, adding, subtracting and measuring
  • Hands-on activities that help children discover the science and nature of our world
  • Group activities designed to develop social skills such as sharing, cooperating and listening
  • Activities exposing children to creative arts, music, physical education and computer technology

After School Child Care

After-school care will be offered for children in kindergarden through 12 years of age. During these times children will participate in a variety of activities, including:

  • Healthy snack time
  • Physical activities
  • Reading and Math
  • Art, music and drama
  • Science and computers
  • Homework support
  • Friendship building opportunities

Our teachers, comprised of individuals with unique talents and interests, have a passion for educating young children and interests, have a passion for educating young children and are privileged to partner with your family. They receive ongoing training in support areas such as first aid and CPR, behavior guidance, working with specific age groups, curriculum and learning environments. The YMCA is dedicated to the care, education, safety and well being of all children in our program.
