Curriculum

The YMCA's curriculum, for ages 2 though pre-kindergarten, prepares children for kindergarten and assists them in developing social skills and a natural curiosity about our world.

Our teachers will communicate regularly with you about activities in which your child participates and about his/her development progress. Your child also will have a variety of learning experiences to share with you including:

  • Language and reading activities that teach letter recognition, sounds and writing
  • Math activities that engage children in counting, adding, subtracting and measuring
  • Hands-on activities that help children discover the science and nature of our world
  • Group activities designed to develop social skills such as sharing, cooperating and listening
  • Activities exposing children to creative arts, music, physical education and computer technology

KinderKamp

From recognizing sight words and identifying numbers to adjusting to new situations, KinderKamp will help your child master kindergarten requirements, as implemented by the State of Missouri. KinderKamp will help kids flourish in other areas, too! From weekly educational field trips to activities that encourage group involvement, KinderKamp engages kids both intellectually and socially.

In addition to helping children master kindergarten requirements, KinderKamp also includes vision and dental screenings, so you can rest assured that your child has the tools they need to thrive in school.

KinderKamp is for children entering kindergarten this fall. KinderKamp is $125/week. A drop program is offered for $25/day on a first-come, first-served basis. Full packet must be completed, including shot records.

Afterschool Child Care

Afterschool care will be offered for children in kindergarden through 12 years of age. During these times children will participate in a variety of activities, including:

  • Healthy snack time
  • Physical activities
  • Reading and Math
  • Art, music and drama
  • Science and computers
  • Homework support
