Joplin Family YMCA received $1,601.13 from the jcpenney Northpark Mall Store to provide financial assistance to students in our afterschool program, School Plus. This funding represents money raised through jcpenney’s pennies from heaven program, where customers are asked to round up purchase amounts to the nearest dollar at four times during the year. Through this program, jcpenney partners with the Joplin Family YMCA to ensure supervised, activity-based afterschool care is made affordable for working families. For more information about our School Plus program, contact Chance Nigh at (417) 623-4597.

When Joplin R-8 Schools close for a snow day, all fitness and aquatics classes will be cancelled for the day.

The Joplin Family YMCA has received a generous grant from the Community Foundation of Southwest Missouri's Joplin Recovery Fund to support infant care for tornado victims at our Heritage Youth Development Center. Destruction of a significant number of child care facilities by the May 22nd tornado resulted in a critical lack of infant care options in the community. To help meet the need, we sought and received a variance to accept infants at Heritage. Funding from the Joplin Recovery Fund will provide financial assistance to storm victims and defray the cost of modifications to the facility so that we may obtain permanent licensing to continue offering infant care to the families who've come to depend on us.
The Joplin Family YMCA wants to thank The Home Depot for leading the cause by donating $100,000 to the Disaster Childcare Relief Fund! We appreciate your commitment to the Joplin community.

This summer, the Joplin Family YMCA received a $5,000 grant from the Walmart Foundation to help provide free meals to children 5 to 14 years old through the national Food Service Program. A big thank you to Walmart for partnering with the Joplin Family YMCA to feed the children in our community!!
Thank you to Hershewe Law firm for donating $50,000 to the Joplin Family YMCA's Childcare Relief Program. This truly makes a positive impact on our community and in the lives our children.
