Group Exercise Classes

Be Healthy, Be Strong, Belong

​Have fun and get fit in a safe, motivating setting! Taught by certified instructors, our group fitness classes provide community, accountability and guidance in how to properly perform the exercises. The result is lasting friendships and a workout routine that you'll want to stick with!

Aerobics and group fitness classes are held at both Joplin Family YMCA facilities. These classes are free to members and are $6/day for non-members. Registration is not necessary, and classes run continuously without start or stop dates.

Age Guidelines

  • Members age 13 and over participate in all group exercise classes.
  • Members age 7 to 12 years old only may participate in classes with instructor approval and they are accompanied by an adult (at least 18-years-old) who is participating in the class. A waiver must be signed by a parent or guardian.

Safety Guidelines

  • Members must follow the class guidelines and instructor’s directions.
  • It is highly recommended that you see a physician before beginning an exercise program, especially if you have any pre-existing medical conditions.

Land-Based Fitness Classes

With class offerings ranging from yoga to circuit training, you're sure to find a class to fall in love with. We also offer nationally licensed classes, including BodyPump®, SilverSneakers®, Spin® and Zumba®!

Aquatics Classes

These water-based classes reduce impact on joints by 90% (in comparison to land-based workouts), enabling a populations who cannot participate in land-based classes to increase their strength and endurance, without putting unnecessary strain on their joints! Class offering include aquacise, arthricise and Aqua Zumba®​!
